What's New at Hint: Smarter Membership Management, Faster Clinical Workflows, and More

Running a direct care practice means wearing a lot of hats. You're a clinician, a business owner, and often your own front desk. Every minute spent wrestling with software is a minute not spent with patients.

That's why every update Hint ships is built around one idea: give direct care practices the tools to run more efficiently, so they can focus on what they do best.

Here's what's shipped in February.

Billing & Membership Management Updates

Hint Core is Hint's membership and billing product that handles everything from patient sign-up and plan management to recurring billing and pricing logic. The February Core updates give practices more control over how they present and price their memberships.

Show Patients Exactly What They're Getting at Sign-Up

One of the biggest friction points in growing a direct care practice is the sign-up experience. If prospective patients can't quickly understand what's included in each membership plan, they hesitate, and hesitation kills conversions.

Hint now lets practices add custom descriptions to each membership plan, visible directly within the online sign-up flow. Patients can compare plans side by side, see exactly what's covered, and choose the right option without ever leaving the page or calling the office.

Practices have full control over the text and formatting, whether that's a clean feature list, a benefits summary, or a more marketing-forward description designed to convert. Clearer plans mean stronger conversions and fewer questions before someone commits.

Flexible Pricing for Families and Children

Family memberships are one of the biggest growth levers for a cash-pay practice, but the pricing logistics have historically been a headache. What rate should a child pay if an adult is already enrolled? What happens when a family's enrollment changes mid-year? How do you avoid manually adjusting plans every time?

Hint's new pricing rules address all of this directly. Practices can now set a different rate for children depending on whether an adult member is enrolled, define how many children are included within a group tier family plan, and let the system automatically calculate pricing for any additional children beyond that threshold.

When a family's enrollment changes, pricing adjusts accordingly — no manual intervention required. For front-desk staff and practice administrators, this means fewer plan changes to manage and more predictable billing for the families they serve.

EHR Updates

Hint Clinical is Hint's EHR built specifically for direct care practices. Unlike traditional EHRs designed around insurance billing, Hint Clinical is built around the patient relationship, keeping clinical documentation fast, focused, and fully integrated with the rest of the Hint platform. The February Clinical updates reduce context switching and bring more of a patient's record into one place.

Pick Up Right Where You Left Off in the Chart

Clinical work rarely follows a straight line. A provider is mid-chart on one patient when something pulls their attention elsewhere such as an urgent task, a phone call, or a second record that needs a quick review. Getting back to the original patient shouldn't require navigating back through multiple screens.

Hint Clinical’s patient search now includes a Recent Patients list, accessible directly from the search menu. Providers can return to any recently viewed chart in a single click, without leaving the clinical interface or re-searching from scratch.

Q: Does the Recent Patients list require any setup or configuration? No. It's available automatically within the clinical patient search menu and surfaces the most recently accessed patient charts, making it immediately useful without any additional steps.

Cleaner Medication Lists, Automatically

Hint Clinical now automatically prevents duplicate medications from appearing on the Health Summary when a prescription is written through an Rx interaction. This applies to prescriptions written through both DoseSpot and in-app prescribing workflows, and has been applied retroactively to existing medications so charts are already cleaner without any manual cleanup required.

*Coming soon: In-app Rx refill notifications, so providers can act on refill requests without leaving the clinical workflow.

Faxes, Right Where They Belong

Faxes are a routine part of clinical documentation: referrals, lab results, records from other providers. But when fax management lives separately from the clinical record, it creates friction: extra steps to file documents and a fragmented view of a patient's history.

Assigned faxes now automatically appear in a patient's Interactions timeline, alongside notes, labs, imaging, and other clinical records. There's no longer a need to manually create a document after assigning a fax; it's handled automatically. Assigned faxes can also be securely shared with patients through the portal, keeping patients informed and giving them access to their own records when appropriate.

Q: Where did faxes appear in Hint before this update? Previously, faxes were managed within the Communications section, separate from the clinical record. This update moves them into the Interactions timeline, aligning fax documentation with the rest of a patient's clinical history and reducing the number of steps required to manage incoming faxes.

Built for Direct Care. Designed to Get Out of Your Way.

Hint is purpose-built for membership-based practices. Unlike general-purpose practice management software, Hint is designed around the direct care model with tools for patient sign-up, billing, clinical documentation, and practice operations all built to work together.

These updates are part of a sustained investment in making the platform faster and more flexible for practices at every stage of growth, from solo providers launching their first practice to multi-site organizations.
